Precision Turbo Customers Win Big at NHRA, NMRA, ORSCA & PSCA Events
04-05-2007
April Fool's day was no laughing matter for a number of competitors as Precision Turbo customers ruled supreme at the NHRA Sport Compact season opener at West Palm Beach. Brad Personett (Pro RWD), Ken Scheepers (Modified), Kenny Tran (Hot Rod), Damian Borroto (Sport FWD) and Darin Dichiara (Sport RWD) won their categories at the season opener as Precision Turbo dominated the action. Precision Turbo cars were the low qualifiers in two classes (Pro RWD & Hot Rod) and had two cars in the final rounds in three different classes (Pro RWD, Hot Rod & Sport RWD).

The Outlaw Racing Street Car Association (ORSCA) had their season opener at Huntsville last weekend also. Tim Lynch (Outlaw 10.5) was the #2 qualifier out of a full field of 32 cars with a 4.493 at 171.95 at the eighth mile track and lasted until the third round before falling to fellow Precision Turbo customer Todd Moyer, who ran his quickest pass of the event with a 4.57 at 162.51. Moyer went on to make the finals despite some engine sealing problems of his own before coming up .0496 of a second short to win the event. In other action, record holder Eric Dillard (Limited Street) qualified second with a 4.898 and made it to the semifinals while low qualifier Shane Stack (EZ Street) was the winner in ORSCA's drag radial class.

On the same day, Chris Tuten & John Kolivas made it to the final round in NMRA's popular Drag Radial class, which was postponed due to rain. This was the second final in as many races during the month of March, which saw Kolivas begin a defense of his 2006 championship with a victory over Tuten, who was the 2005 class champion.

Earlier in the month, both Ed Thornton (Pro Street) & Dave Bowman (Wild Street) won their second consecutive PSCA events at Fontana, CA. Thornton ran under the class record to beat John Scialpi's blown BBC while Bowman won in Wild Street, which is a small tire drag radial class.

In the NOPI Drag Race series, Dan Millen (Pro Outlaw RWD) ran a strong 206.23 MPH in the semifinals to surpass the class speed record, but lost in the finals. At the second event of the year in Texas, it was an all Precision Turbo final as Brad Personett (Pro) beat Fun Ford regular Dan Saitz. Kenny Tran (Pro 4 Cyl) was a winner in his Quaker State sponsored Scion Tc.

Precision Turbo was setting records on the other side of the world last month also as Khalid Althani's stock suspension Toyota Supra became the first Middle East team to break into the 7's. Driver Mustafa Atat ran a 7.93 at 181.5 mph (290 km/h) last weekend at the Emirates Motorplex with an 88mm turbo from Precision.
